The Star Guardians Series is Complete with Hierax and Zakota

Posted by on September 3rd, 2017 in News | 25 Comments

In the last couple of weeks, I’ve published the last two novels in my five-book Star Guardians series: Hierax and Zakota.

I would like to say a big thank you to all of you who have picked up the books this summer. Zakota wraps up the story arc that started with Orion, but it’s a large universe, and I wouldn’t mind writing some more stories in it. If you would like to see more science fiction romances with the characters from the Falcon 8, or perhaps with new characters, please let me know.

Also, if you have time to leave reviews of the books on Goodreads or Amazon, that would be wonderful. Thank you for the support.

I’ll post the covers and blurbs below in case you haven’t seen these last two books yet!

As a database programmer from Arizona and a fan of sedate, indoor activities, Indi Smith doesn’t belong in outer space. Certainly not in a star system with a broken wormhole gate and no way home. But through no fault of her own, that’s where she’s landed, and nobody on the ship, not even the genius chief engineer Hierax, knows how to repair the gate. The only clue that could help is an untranslatable transmission coming from an uninhabitable planet with no atmosphere.

Though she’s a fish out of water, Indi is determined to use her knack for analysis and recognizing patterns to decode the transmission and help Hierax fix the gate, whether he wants the assistance of some civilian woman or not. She refuses to die in the middle of nowhere, even if it means she has to prove her worth to an arrogant, know-it-all engineer. She’s had experience dealing with geeks, albeit not ones with such big, sexy muscles, but that doesn’t mean working with him will be easy.

Chief Hierax is used to being in charge of all things mechanical, and he’s used to being the smartest person on the ship. Few of his burly Star Guardian colleagues were recruited for their brains. So when Indi shows up with a clever way of looking at the alien transmission, one he hadn’t thought of, he’s not sure what to make of it—or her.

His focus should be on fixing the gate, but he finds himself speculating about romantic endeavors. Would she be interested in seeing his hobby projects or maybe his favorite tools? It’s hard to tell. He has a hard time understanding women—and people in general, for that matter—so charming her may be tougher than finding a way home.

Katie Saunders isn’t used to sitting on her butt, but she’s been stuck doing exactly that as the Star Guardians fly all over the galaxy, trying to get her and the other kidnapped women back home. Now it looks like they have to engage in a battle against evil aliens before making the final flight to Earth. Since they’ve captured an extra ship and are short on pilots, Katie wants to help.

She flew jets during her time in the Navy, and she’s been training on the spaceship’s flight simulator, so she knows she can be useful. Because the captain won’t listen to her, she turns her focus onto the ship’s helm officer, Zakota. He’s an odd man who apparently believes he’s a shaman, but maybe she can convince him she can fly.

Wheeling and dealing with Zakota reveals a couple of unexpected things. First off, he’s super hot under that uniform, and second, he’s not quite as kooky as she thought. As a fellow pilot, he gets her, far better than she expected anyone out here would, and he’s quick to see her worth in the cockpit.

The problem? There’s not time for them to get to know each other better or much of anything else. They’re headed into a battle against a superior foe with superior numbers, and the odds are against them making it out alive.

So the last 2 books in a series I have been reading on KU is not being offered on KU? This is such a low based thing to pull on your fans. I enjoyed your work Ms.Lionsdrake but I am no longer a reader of your work. What is happening to America? Ppl seem to be enjoying just being mean to others. Now it seems it’s trickling to our authors. This makes me sad.

I forgot to check the box. It’s in KU now. It would have been nice if you’d come and asked if it was a mistake instead of jumping to conclusions and leaving a nasty comment.

(Hierax, the fourth book, is in KU now and always has been, so I don’t know what you’re talking about there.)

  2. Elizabeth says:

Thank you for all the wonderful reads under both Lionsdrake and Buroker.

Hierax is in KU, I read it in KU a week or so ago and just double checked.

As to Zakota I don’t know if it’s Ms Lionsdrake or amazon. I know of at least one author who had to remind amazon that her book was supposed to be in kindle unlimited.

I would love it if Zakota was also to be in KU but consider the KU debacle and authors leaving…

I appreciate the speed at which Ms Lionsdrake releases new entertaining well written books in addition to those she releases under Buroker.

Thanks again for all the great reads.

    • Ruby says:

Thank you for understanding, Elizabeth. It’s just a mistake though. Zakota now appears in KU. For the time being, I will continue to publish my books there, but yes, it is a tough decisions for authors, and many are pulling out. For most of us, the earnings are significantly less on borrows than on sales, and people will borrow over buying if they can.

I was able to get Hierax on kindle unlimited and Zakota is not available yet. Sorry you are having trouble.

    • Ruby says:

Zakota is available in KU now.

Thanks you. Ms Lionsdrake (and everyone else here, thought I was writing straight to Ms. Lionsdrake herself) I am sorry I was so upset when I was not able to get my next in the series after I got my email alert. I’m so broke these day since I am unable to work any longer that even the $10 to buy KU and my Prime yearly subscription taps out my ‘money for non necessary items’fund each year. I can get free books from my library via my desktop but those choices are few. It has happened before where a few authors I follow have switched to pay per book after their books were always KU. THAT is why I was so upset. It just seemed it was happening again and this time I had decided to let an author know I thought it was wrong. I apologize for coming at you as I did Ms.Lionsdrake and doing THAT so angry.

  4. Elizabeth says:

    KU is live for Zakota!

    Thank you!

    Hi Ruby,
First of all, thank you for all over your wonderful books. I also was going to ask about Zakota in KU, but it seems you already fixed that, thanks again. And, since you asked about other characters we would like stories for, I would love if you wrote a story for “Killer” Ku. You know, the kind where he is a big (giant) badass, but it takes the right woman who is strong enough and sweet enough to both stand up to him and soften him.
    Much love to you!

Hi! Thank you for writing such entertaining books! I love the balance of action and romance. When it happens in space with hot aliens it’s over the top. Your books are a fresh take on this subject, very well written. I would also love to see more of the Star Guardian books. In particular “Killer” Ku. Perhaps consider the men in the
Zi’i shuttles in the last book. Thanks again!

  7. Dawn Parsons says:

Please write more books for this series. I absolutely love them all. They just keep getting better and better!!!!!

  8. Dawn Parsons says:

Please write more books for this awesome series. They just keep getting better and better, and I love them all!!!!!

  9. Linda says:

I loved the Star Guardians series, please write more, they are fantastic. I have them all on kindle, but would love to have them in paperback also.

    • Dawn Parsons says:

I never received Mickolous and would like to read it very much. PLEASE consider writing more books, you have so many more interesting men to write about!!

  10. Alinia says:

Thank you for this series! It was so fun, and I’d love to hear more stories in this series. And now that they are on earth, I would love to hear more about how the Star Guardians handle Earth. Any possibilities with Yulia?

  11. Paula McLaughlin says:

Hi Ruby, Absolutely love the characters in this series! After reading them all, I would so enjoy meeting up with them in other stories. Is there a possibility, you could find a way to save the “Viking” Arkyn. I feel his destiny was so fleeting. Must we lose another hero? What if his mate is somewhere out there? 🙂

  12. Steven Bryan says:

Guys would enjoy these books too. I’m a 55 year old happily married father of three, and I thoroughly enjoy these books, along with those by your other nomme de plume. Your dialogs are always entertaining, and the adventures are wonderful escapes. I just wish the cover art wasn’t so totally geared toward women, because most guys won’t even give them a second glance. People who see my Kindle list see these big hunky naked man torsos and give me that look. I don’t care, I love your books. Keep it up, but keep us guys in mind with the cover art.

Hope there is a book in the future for the pirate Ares–who should be disclosed as Orion and Sage’s rebellious middle brother. Can we get Katie’s sister Michelle on the love boat somehow? She could be another genius but rebellious mechanic training under Hierax and a good match for Ares – who is heading into an unknown wormhole searching for a criminal and may need some creative weapons and mechanical support to get home.

  14. Alison says:

Please write more stories in this universe! I’d love some more Star Guardians or relatives so we can get glimpses into our previous couples lives.

  15. Gloria says:

What wonderful stories you’ve created. Would love to see more books in this series. Especially Lieutenant Ku, I found myself totally intrigued by him.

  16. Eli O. Jakobsen says:

Love your stories so much. Both Broker and Lionsdrake. I’ve read them all. Left a verified review of the series on the Orion book (assuming the first book in the series gets most views but if I’m wrong let me know I’ll make more) I’ve only purchased the Kindle edition since I’m Norwegian and shipping from anywhere is a pain. PS! If you need another beta reader, I’ll happily join your team ^_^

Hi Ruby! I would love to hear more from the Falcon 8 crew. There are a couple of people (Lt. Coric, Ku) that I think would make for great reads. I’m just getting ready to download Ariston so I can’t wait to get blown away. You are a great author and I love your world building. Thank you so much for keeping my brain entertained 🙂

Just wanted to throw in my 2cents worth. I always enjoy your books. I love how well you develop your characters. Thank you for hours of reading.
