Free Stories at Sci-Fi Romance Quarterly and What I’m Reading

Posted by on March 3rd, 2015 in News | 3 Comments
Hi, all! I hope you enjoyed Mercenary Courage if you picked it up. I’ll have some news soon about further projects, but in the meantime, if you want to give some more authors a try, you can find free stories and book reviews over at the online magazine Sci-Fi Romance Quarterly. Also, if you happen to be a writer yourself, the magazine is soliciting submissions for short (2,000 to 7,500 words) SFR stories. They pay 2.5 cents a word if they accept your story. Currently Reading: I just finished Anna Hackett’s novella, Beneath a Trojan Moon. It’s part of a series, but you can read it as a stand alone (and it’s currently free!) She has a lot of action adventure in her far...Read More

Mercenary Courage Is Live!

Posted by on February 13th, 2015 in News | 27 Comments
I must have whined in the right ears at Amazon, because after an interminable delay (it was over a day, people, seriously!), Mercenary Courage is live there. I’ve already posted a sample chapter here, but here’s a look at the cover and the blurb. For those who enjoyed Mercenary Instinct, we’re back to Ankari and Viktor in this one. Blurb: After a grueling battle that cost him dearly, mercenary captain Viktor Mandrake wants nothing more than to get his ship repaired, let his men have leave, and spend time relaxing with Ankari. Entrepreneur, schemer, and leaser of his company’s one and only pink shuttlecraft, she has become the woman he loves and wants to keep at his...Read More

Mercenary Courage Coming Soon! (And First Chapter Preview)

Hi, all! Mercenary Courage is now available. For those who like teasers, here’s a look at the first chapter: Chapter 1 Ankari held up the long dagger, eyeing the gleaming steel and testing the heft of the hilt. It was made from antler, whether fake or real, she could not tell. Etchings of alien runes—or what passed for someone’s interpretation of them—ran along the blade. Shaking her head, she placed the dagger back on the black velvet tray the sales robot in front of her held. “Too frivolous. Do you have anything that looks amazing but is still functional and practical?” “I assure you, all of our blades are amazing, ma’am,” the robot said, its mechanical voice...Read More

Progress on Mercenary Courage and What Are You Reading?

Posted by on January 9th, 2015 in News | 32 Comments
I know a few folks stop by the site here (thank you), so I thought I would post a little update. I’m almost done with the rough draft of Mercenary Courage, which brings us back to Ankari and Viktor (along with some old and new friends). They’re having an adventure with some mystery/trouble/utter chaos on a space station that was originally built by techno-druids (more details in the book, of course). I’ll be finishing the draft and editing the manuscript over the next few days, then plan to send it off to beta readers next week. I have my regular editor reserved for the first week of February, so am on track for a release around the second week of the month. Just out...Read More
